AUGUSTA, GA — The Augusta Economic Development Authority (AEDA) proudly announces the promotion of Michael Norris to the position of Vice President of Economic Development, effective immediately.
Michael Norris has been an integral part of the AEDA team since 2018, previously serving as Senior Project Manager. In this role, Michael has demonstrated exceptional leadership in business attraction, strategic site development, and industry engagement. His efforts have significantly contributed to Augusta’s economic growth and the successful attraction of new industries to the region.
In his new capacity as Vice President of Economic Development, Mr. Norris will lead AEDA’s initiatives to attract and secure new business investments in Augusta-Richmond County. His responsibilities will include managing relationships with national site selectors, corporate partners, and state-level agencies, as well as steering workforce alignment strategies in collaboration with local educational institutions and partners.
A lifelong Georgia native who now calls Augusta home, Mr. Norris received his B.A in Political Science and his Master of Public Administration from Valdosta State University, and has over a decade of experience with government, economic development and industrial recruitment. His deep understanding of Augusta’s economic landscape and commitment to community development positions him well to drive AEDA’s mission forward.
“Under the leadership of Authority President, Cal Wray and the AEDA Board of Directors, we have had many successes over the last 7 years” says Norris. “I am grateful to have the opportunity to continue to work for this great organization and the citizens of Augusta-Richmond County in helping to create a more prosperous community”
“Michael has played a key role in shaping our strategic direction, strengthening industrial recruitment and site selection relationships, and driving the overall success of the AEDA. I am excited for his continued growth and success in seeing Augusta and Richmond County continue to grow, improve, and become a better place to work, live, and raise our families. We are fortunate to have Michael in Augusta when he has so many other opportunities in his career. He loves Augusta as much as we all do and know he will be a positive influence in the future of Augusta,” said Authority President Cal Wray.
The Augusta Economic Development Authority serves as the primary agency for economic development in Augusta-Richmond County, focusing on the recruitment of new businesses in industrial, manufacturing, distribution, corporate and regional headquarters, and customer service centers. AEDA also supports existing industries to ensure their continued expansion and retention, working closely with military-related companies associated with Fort Gordon’s Cyber Command Headquarters.
